I love dehydrated fruits. Admittedly, I buy them from the store more often than I shoul

d, especially since we have a dehydrator.
One of my favorite fruits to dehydrate is apples -- and this easy recipe is my favorite way to prepare dehydrated apple slices. Not only does it taste great but it's easy, no-mess, and it makes your house smell like fall.
Dehydrated Cinnamon Sugar Apple Slices
Helpful tools:
Spiralizer attachment for Kitchen Aid mixer, or a countertop apple peeler/corer
Gallon zip bag
Ingredients:
3 red apples - sweeter varieties like Honeycrisps, Fuji, Roma, Gala, Pink Lady
1 lemon - juice of (or if you use the lemon concentrate, use 3-4 tablespoons)
2 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/2 tsp nutmeg, ground
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Combine lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract in a small mixing box. Stir aggressively to combine.
Attach apple to peeler/corer and core them with a spiral cut. Stack the apple rings on a plate and cut in half.
Put the apple slices into the gallon bag. Make sure they aren't stuck together in tight stacks -- separate them as best as you can.
Pour liquid into bag with apple slices. Seal the bag and shake it up to generously coat each apple slice.
Take the apple slices out and place them on dehydrator trays, don't overlap pieces.
For crispy apple slices, dehydrate 10-12 hours; for chewier apple slices, dehydrate 6-8 hours.
